Tbilisi-Mtskheta-Ananuri-Kazbegi-Tbilisi
Our tour starts driving to the ancient capital of Georgia- Mtskheta. We will see 7th century Georgian Monastery- Jvari Monastery. It stands on the mountaintop at the confluence of the rivers Mtkvari and Aragvi –where St Nino (equal to Apostles) erected the cross. Jvari is one of the greatest masterpieces of architecture with its perfection of architectural forms. It is the first Georgian monument in World Heritage list.
Then we will drive to Svetitskhoveli –patriarchal cathedral church of the Georgian Orthodox Church in Mtskheta which for millennia was the main Cathedral of all Georgia!
Then, enjoy the views of the Jinvali reservoir ,we will visit fortress- Ananuri (XVI-XVIIIc), located on the Georgian military Highway, where a small river Vedzadkhevi flows into Aragvi. Ananuri served as a stronghold for Aragvi Eristavis, the rulers of this region.
Then we will drive through Jvari Pass (2395m above sea level) to ski resort Gudauri and arrive to village Stepantsminda (Kazbegi). The village is situated in central part of Caucasus, at the foot of Mount Kazbek, 1744m above sea level. We climb to the famous St Trinity Monastery(Gergeti) and enjoy incredible views of Mount Kazbek and its surroundings.
On the way back to Tbilisi we will see incredible Daryal Gorge and Sno Valley.
